WHAT SERVICES DO YOU PROVIDE ?
I provide both medical and surgical eye care, which includes everything from
regular eye exams, diagnosis and management of eye diseases, to complex
eye surgeries.
WHAT IS YOUR AREA OF SPECIALTY?
I am a board certified comprehensive general ophthalmologist.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK IN EMERALD COAST ?
I was attracted by the outstanding medical facility and staff at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, and I recognized the need for an ohthalmologist within the community to increase the availability of eye care services. I moved my practice here in November 2004 and since that time have been instrumental in increasing emergency eye care as well as ocular surgical services at the hospital.
WHAT IS YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND ?
I graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of South
Alabama College of Medicine. I completed my residency training at the
University of Alabama at Birmingham/Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital in
Birmingham.
WHAT NEW PRACTICES ARE YOU USING ?
Advances in lens technology for the treatment of cataracts enable me to
offer correction of astigmatism as well as near and distance vision in many
patients.

Award for the Outstanding Senior Resident Clinical Research Presentation
and the Merck Award for the outstanding medical student in Ophthalmology.
DESCRIBE YOUR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT :
I devote a large portion of my time to public education about eye disease
and prevention of blindness by participating in health fairs and delivering
seminars concerning eye health to the community on a regular basis. I am a
physician volunteer for the Children’s Volunteer Health Network. I am an
active member of the Junior League of the Emerald Coast and participate
regularly with Soup Kitchen for the homeless at St. Simon’s on the Sound
Episcopal Church. I also support the SanDestin Lion’s Club in their effort to
prevent blindness world wide.
WHAT IS YOUR PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY:
To provide the highest quality medical care possible and to deliver that care
with compassion. I never want my patients to feel like “just a number.”
